New listening of note since last post (mostly albums entirely new to me or else ones not given enough attention before)

Heavy/Punky!
AFI - The Art of Drowning (2000)
At the Drive In - Relationship of Command (2000)
Lamb of God - As The Palaces Burn (2003)
Lamb of God - Sacrament (2006)
Lamb of God - Wrath (2009)
Judas Priest - British Steel (1980)
Strapping Young Lad - City (1997)
Metallica - 72 Seasons (2023) - deserves repeated mentions!
Killing Joke - Killing Joke (1980)
Killing Joke - What's This For ... !(1981)
Blink 182 - One More Time (2023)
Pixies - Bossanova (1990)

Not so heavy!
Thompson Twins - Quick Step and Side Kick (1983)
Thompson Twins - Into the Gap (1984)
Lush - Split (1994)
Lush - Lovelife (1996)*
The Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds (2023)
Wham - Make It Big (1984)
Enigma - Le Rou Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! (1996)
Michael Jackson - HIStory - PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE - BOOK 1 (1995) (I mean the actual songs form 1995; the first disc is all stuff I've been fully familar with for decades)
George Michael - Older (1996)
U2 - Zooropa (1993)
The Sound - From the Lion's Mouth (1981)
Pere Ubu - Dub Housing (1976)
Robert Miles - Dreamland (1996)

*Not quite as involved a meeting of a cool famous person as Soul Monster's recent escapades, but me and my wife went to Miki Berenyi's book interview event in London earlier this year. Reading her book right now... it's really good, would recommend if you like good music (particularly that pertaining Generation X) or just generally hearing a good life story with its ups and downs!

Holy crap, you saw that?! Thank you so much for reading that, Benvolio!!

Anyway, that's awesome that you got to attend that earlier this year, Benvolio. I can't say I'm too familiar with Miki Berenyi's discography, but I looked her up after seeing your post, so I guess I'll have to check out some of her work sometime soon, and perhaps buy a copy of her book. Would you consider sharing your thoughts on her book in the "What Books Are You Reading?" thread on here once you've finished it?

Yes of course! My reading paused between parts one and two due to preparing for an important job interview but now I'm free to finish reading!

I do really recommend listening to Lush if you like music with generous doses of melody and at times incredibly ethereal harmonies. For obscurely introspective soundscapes I'd recommend "Gala" or "Spooky", whereas for outgoing, feminist (but not vindictively so) pop-rock I'd recommend "Lovelife". All their music is great!

On an unrelated note I strongly recommend PCKFers checking out the YouTube channel of Boiiedoin.

It will appeal to those at the centre of the venn diagram of liking DOOM, Midi and metal. Which is probably most of us.

Hilariously accurate and incredibly listenable renditions of full 90s-00s nu-metal albums.

I particularly recommend the Slipknot self titled and the SOAD self titled.

If I was ever to write music for video games I'd find these incredibly inspiring. I guess it comes full circle, given that DOOM music was inspired by Metallica, Megadeth etc and then undoubtedly went on to inspire Slipknot, Linkin Park etc later on.

I'd love to get these Midis and listen to them on a 3.11 system.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the inverse, "StateofMercury"'s metallica-esque reimagining of DOOM soundrack. https://youtu.be/Cl-xcjlfswo?si=T0pmdgQj4RIrXgjX

While I am at home and also at work in the office no matter what on a daily basis I listen to mostly the following:

Weatherscan soundtrack by Trammell Starks
Seeburg Basic/Industrial/Mood Background Music
Good vaporwave, mall music stuff
A whole bunch of 80s music (too many to list)
Mixed techno/trance songs
Sonic game soundtracks and Sonic & Chill radio on YouTube
Smooth Jazz on iHeart

I think that's it. :D

Seeburg Basic Background music from the 70s right now. With Concert Hall environment enabled and a water fountain playing.

It's helping while I work. :)

I was listening to a CD that's packed full of classic songs, such as You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You, Unforgettable, Over The Rainbow, Something, What Now My Love, and The Impossible Dream, featuring singers such as Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey, Lou Rawls, and Wayne Newton. It's such a good CD that I keep coming back to often, possibly one of my favorites, although I don't know what it's called since I borrowed it from someone where it didn't come in a case. A while ago, I tried looking for its version of Over The Rainbow (really good song!) on YouTube, but couldn't find it. All this time, I thought that all of the songs were recorded back in the 30s and 40s (which would be one of the reasons why it stands out to me so much), but just now I found out that Shirley sang Something in the 70s... and I thought she was the original singer, not the Beatles (it explains some of the song's instrumentation though).

I have both of these CDs. As for Max Cavalera, I have pretty much all of his Sepultura era plus Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy (They just re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions), Killer Be Killed, and Nailbomb.

Weatherscan tracks 1-33 by Trammel Starks. He actually has CDs of these tracks, however, they are all outdated and no longer used in The Weather Channel.
