Hell yeah, that looks super cool!
Re: MILDLY NEAT -- For all your random Keenery needs!
Has anyone ever noticed that of all the Keen episodes, only Keen 2 has yet to have a mod in the current decade (2020s)? The last Keen 2 mod came out in early 2019.
Also, that Apple II port looks pretty neat! Since you said the author is a Twitter user, Roobar, are there any tweets about it that you'd like to link to? I assume the Keen Awards 2024 nomination is for 4.3: Most Promising Project, correct?

Re: MILDLY NEAT -- For all your random Keenery needs!
I don't think it will be possible to make that happen, but I still think it's a neat thing. So probably the neat thing category or art. Anyway, here's a tweet https://twitter.com/deater78/status/1766334447257895073
Re: MILDLY NEAT -- For all your random Keenery needs!
And just when I thought this won't get any further, the guy showed a proof of concept of an actual gameplay (albeit much more simple):

So it might come out as a playable fan game (or demo) eventually?

so yes, I am working on an Apple Ii port of Keen1. Not sure how far it will go. I have a website describing the project here: http://deater.net/weave/vmwprod/keen/

Re: MILDLY NEAT -- For all your random Keenery needs!
I was todays years old when I learned that the chocolate bars in Keen 3 actually give you 500 points, while hamburgers gives you 100 points.

That being said, I haven't really played Keen 3 recently, neither cared about the score that much to notice. Was there ever a fix for this?

Re: MILDLY NEAT -- For all your random Keenery needs!
I got a gravis ultrasound sound card in my retro dos PC lately and made some recordings of how keen 4 and 6 music, among others, sounds with the card.

Basically the gravis does not have an fm synthesizer on the card and instead uses a software emulator to assign instrument samples to the fm music in games. It sort of turns the music into something akin to mod or tracker music, but without a human to weigh in on whether the instrument choices and volume levels sound good, sometimes the results are a bit weird. There were multiple versions of the software, which sounded different, so I recorded some examples of this! This was the only sound card I had as a kid playing keen so the music always sounded like this to me

Neat. The song 1 from Keen 4 does sound pretty good. But you're right that a lot of them sound really weird! e.g. some bizarre high pitches that are clearly out of tune, or the constant static in that really short Keen 4 song.
