Games similar in appearance to duke nukum or word rescue

I am of course speaking of how the tiling graphics work. I always loved that about those two games. Especially the second. I played all 3 to finish.

This being said, I kind of would like a list of games that have that feel.

I do not seek any specific genre as long as it isn't like leisure suit larry lol. That just turns me off... although it looks nothing like those games anyhow. But I speak even if there are games that are look like the titles I mentioned only with messed up sexual weirdness.

I am aware of cosmos cosmic adventures btw so don't bother including that one. I have played that wayyy too much.

I like the ones that are as difficult as cosmos cosmic adventures episode 3 but don't go too much harder.

Well, maybe you are interested in dos platform games. You should look at all the games made before 1994 by Apogee, ID Software, Epic Megagames, Safari Software and Sofdisk. Game lists for these developers/publishers are available on Wikipedia and other places.

You could also go to an abandonware site and check out their search engines. Some of them allow you to filter by year and genre of game, so it's never been easier to look for dos hidden gems you haven't played much before.

I haven't played the Rescue games in a very long time and only vaguely recall them, and have never played Duke Nukem; but based on a quick google of some screenshots from both games, the only thing that really strikes me as similar between them appearance-wise is how the gameplay area is only part of the screen, and it looks almost like you're watching it through a hole in a full-screen status screen. Is that the particular aspect that appeals to you?

"That feel" is very vague. If you can elaborate on what aspects of their appearance appeals to you (perhaps contrasted with some games that don't have the traits you like), it'll be much easier for people to think about what other games might be similar.

Yep, anything that's early 90s Apogee or Id software will probably be what you want. As Roobar said, Bio Menace is great. You can get all of the episodes for free off of Gog. Also, check out Secret Agent. Has a similar style, and is a great Apogee title.
