[alpha 2.0 released] BomberKeen project revival
Re: [alpha 2.0 released] BomberKeen project revival
Yeah I'm watching it and playing every new version,. Nothing much to say. It's pretty cool and a significant update. It's starting to feel like an actual game.
It would be cool, if you will be able to choose arena themes as well and not only rely on random terrains.

Re: [alpha 2.0 released] BomberKeen project revival
Thank you for the support!
That was the intent, but with recent release we seem to think that it's better to be random, not only because it's adding another selection phase to the menu (and we seem to prefer shorter "time till play") and we seem to be afraid people will keep playing the same theme over and over.It would be cool, if you will be able to choose arena themes as well and not only rely on random terrains.
Quoting K1n9_Duk3 on this:
It's always random and I kind of like that. I think that playing in the same environment over and over again gets boring pretty soon.

Re: [alpha 2.0 released] BomberKeen project revival
Hello everyone, it has been ages I have posted something in these forums... and I had absolutely to do something for this BomberKeen game. I thought it being cool coming with a specific simple idea to improve the "playability" for those who are not familiar with msdos or emulators, and here you are what I have done so far for today:
- Added custom .ico file
- Custom launch link that loads DOSBOX 0.74.1 (included)
- Made distinct dosbox configs so one can edit base settings (dosboxBK) and mounting (dosboxBKDIR)
While I still don't remember if it is possible to create launcher links which doesn't require to be "installed", you have to edit "launch bomberkeen" link (right click on it and select Properties) and include the directory where you have put the game (atm default is "E:\Games\BomberKeen"). You have to edit both lines on the link (Destination and From). DOUBLE CLICK THE LAUNCH LINK AFTER AND HAVE FUN.

Hope this is welcome by devs

Welcome back, pal
I just thought about the icon the other day, yours is nice though a bit too large in small details that are hard to notice, maybe some larger bomb or Keen would be better...
About the Dosbox setup - not sure why it's needed, as running Bomberkeen is as easy as dragging the exe file to a copy (!) of "shortcut" link to the dosbox, placed in its folder.

But thank's anyway, maybe someone will find it useful.
Thank you for all the support!

To allow more than one player to select beloved Keen character - added Keen Dreams variant to the roster of the download.

Yes same, I was in a rush tbh and if you check the file, it still holds the base icon I used to build it up (Magic Carpet GoG Edition ahah) - So the "final" icon might have 8-10 sizes for the same image, indeed a Bomb or Keen face might fitDoomJedi wrote: Welcome back, pal

The reason behind my little thing is to have a unzip & play structure for the game, with also a fitting dosbox configuration and possibly customizable tweaks for players, like (as I mentioned for the icon) GoG installations... a somewhat lame way to have an "official" version of the game, so to spread it easily on the community and beyond.DoomJedi wrote: About the Dosbox setup - not sure why it's needed, as running Bomberkeen is as easy as dragging the exe file to a copy (!) of "shortcut" link to the dosbox, placed in its folder.
I'll see if before this summer I will be able to build up a proper thing with everything I have said.
Btw any planned Player vs CPU feature for the game?
Re: [alpha 2.0 released] BomberKeen project revival
Thank you for the support and help/ideas on how to make the game more approachable (including GoG).
Much appreciated.
In general you are a very supporting person of modding and fangames, love that about you.
Could it be implemented eventually? I guess. Maybe.
Currently it's far from our next goals (on the horizon), making enemy AI is hard, and also there are memory limitations on DOS - and memory resources we'd like to use for improving the versus battle (maybe new powerups and such).
We are still under a phase of working out the most out of the versus mode.
Much appreciated.

Would I like it? sure. Nice to have, no doubt at all.Btw any planned Player vs CPU feature for the game?

Making a brave pilot on my discord - making live broadcasts of my work on new characters for "BomberKeen".
Donnow if anyone will care to look and if it'll catch up.
This way made live and added today:
Stomper
Cobrit

Re: [alpha 2.0 released] BomberKeen project revival
Added Loquax.
This one was a bit of an art struggle, but I'm pleased with the result.
I guess I won't do imposter one so it won't get confused with Keen in game.
Added Cactoid, Messie, Vorticon Woman, Prospector, Yeti and Berkeliod
