can you give me some more details on what you did and what happened afterwards, please? also did the game print an error message on your end?

It's not at the point you captured. It's later, after I complete the Secret City area and try to go back with the teleport.
At least tell me - would I have been teleported back to the maze, or somewhere outdoors?
And how to get the error message from the game? After the game froze, I just had to close the window manually.

are you sure you're using version 1.7.b? and is this a stable freeze on your end?

(the game will display an error message automatically. you don't have to do or activate anything to make that happen)

Yes. The teleport engages and then freezes. The music is still playing, but the game doesn't react to any keys, including escape.
OK, but if I anyway will be back to the outside, maybe I'll just use the "no clipping" cheat (whatever "clipping" is)?
I really have no idea how to see the error message. I'm playing in a window and there's no message, just music on and frozen image...

What levels did you play/finish other than the Secret City, Nowhere Girl? That might contribute to the teleporter freezing bug. Last time I looked through the discussion, I think someone said that it's the Ice City (level where you get the vacuum cleaner) that makes the teleporter freeze the game. I don't know if it's a matter of simply playing Ice City or completing it, though.

Besides the bug on the secret city teleporter, what features does this mod need to be considered 'feature complete'? I have a couple thoughts, but I'd like to hear from others. Is outside work on the mod considered appropriate?

The Dr. Colossus work on the first two keen games bringing them in line with the Galaxy games is literally my dream come true, and this one in particular feels sooo close. I'd love to see these get completed someday!

The teleport bug has already been fixed in my unofficial bugfix release from this thread.

I'd say: if you want to do a mod of a mod, go ahead and do it! Just remember to give credit where credit is due. Don't just steal other people's work and pretend it's yours.

I just played through this mod today and absolutely loved it! It was really fascinating to see the essence of every Keen 1 level recreated in a Keen 5 mod, all while doing so with new level art and music. I especially loved the Keen 5 Security Center remix for Capital City. Most noteworthy was how much of an improvement Red Maze City was from the original, a level I normally dread in every Keen 1 playthrough. I was definitely taken aback by how moody the cave section in the revamped Red Maze City felt due to how detailed the pixel art is for that section.

I do have a few complaints. I also fell victim to the Secret City teleporter bug that froze the game for me, but luckily I was able to reload my save and just use the "no clipping" debug cheat to escape that area. My other major complaint is the lack of ammo throughout the game, but I remember that being an issue with the original Keen 1, so A for accuracy, I guess.

My one minor nitpick is I don't exactly vibe with how the Vorticons look in the mod. They look a bit too menacing and serious compared to how they looked originally. This is actually an issue I have with numerous Keen mods where the enemies look way too serious compared to how cartoony the enemies in the original games were, but that's just a me preference. I almost feel tempted to do a slight tweak of the Vorticon sprites to see if I can capture their original designs, or at least how I interpreted them.

Overall, fantastic mod! I look forward to the Galaxy mod for Keen 2!

Yes, I agree completely.

I just finished MoM - Galaxy [1.80 Bugfixed Edition] for the first time, using the Commander Kylie mod.

Overall, it is a very solid episode. Definitely would make a good introductory game to the series, for new players.

I'm playing this mod right now and enjoying it. I always enjoyed the galaxy keen games more than the original ones due to the enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay. Are there by chance Galaxy engine recreations of keen 2 and 3?
