Bullied out of Android-based smartphone communities

Post by Sup_fanat »

Breaking news!
They just banned me (minutes ago) in one more online community talking about Android-based smartphones. The bot tells me "you can appeal in 90 days". It means, they expect me to have no one to talk with for at least 90 days.

They do so for my criticism of all their typical "security features". These features are all good to have IF you are paranoid about someone wanting to steal your smartphone with all the data - everything explained with "what the thief should not be able to access" - but it's terrible for usability if it's what you cannot turn off to enable YOU making backup of YOUR data into your local devices (such as READABLE database of WhatsApp, leaving WhatsApp no way to lock you out of your data, even if phone number is no longer valid, WhatsApp account or both).

Lesson learned: they are nowhere near those who would really help with tech questions...

There was once such a norm that legitimate software (be it OS or app) won't corrupt your important files delibertately, only some malware will.
Nowadays, exactly the opposite has become reality (not entirely, some malware that corrupts data may still exist - but at large) - the legitimate OS and apps WILL corrupt your important files while "malware" (defined as vendors like it) is required to disable the "not a bug but a feature" that blocks access to app data for user-controlled backups!
