Hi all,
I've been a fan of game music remixes for a long time, like what you find at OC Remix, but sadly as I don't have any musical skill I've never been able to make my own, and there are a lot of games out there that have few if any remixes at all.
Since I don't know anyone willing to make remixes for me in the styles I like, earlier in the year I discovered that the Suno AI music generator can also remix songs, so I've been playing around with getting it to remix some of the game music that I feel is underappreciated. It works surprisingly well, and you have a lot of control over the style of music.
I realise not everyone is a fan of AI, but for people like me who lack the ability to make my own music, it's amazing being able to create the remixes I always wanted to hear and I've really been enjoying the process.
If you're curious whether the remixes sound any good, I uploaded a bunch of them along with the originals for comparison. Let me know if any appeal to you. I mostly focused on games that didn't have many remixes already, as there's a lot of good songs in many games but for some reason there's not a lot of interest in remixing songs from some games. I even had a go at writing lyrics for a couple of songs which gave me a good laugh ("Why's This Rabbit Called Jazz?" and Bio Menance's "My Moustache Means Business"). AI can write the lyrics for you but they're pretty generic and meaningless, so I found I got a much better result writing them myself, even though I'm clearly not a songwriter. But aside from these two experiments, the rest of the remixes are instrumental.
If you're musically challenged like me but the idea of making your own remixes appeals to you, Suno currently let you create five songs a day for free, so it doesn't cost anything to try it out. If you do create any remixes that you think sound good, feel free to post in this thread with links to the songs so we can all have a listen. (You can link to the song itself on the Suno website if you don't have anywhere to upload them.)
Apologies to any creatives who dislike where AI is heading, but for the non-creatives among us, it's amazing the new capabilities it gives us that we've never had access to before.
Using AI for game music remixes

Re: Using AI for game music remixes
Most of these remixes sound pretty good (especially the EDM/Electronic/Rock remixes). Though I'm looking for the opposite thing. Like converting mp3 or wavs into adlib/opl2-opl3 music or straight forward just generating adlib/opl2-3-like music. It could still be mp3 or wav, but sound like the good old DOS games music.
Btw I'll use this opportunity to ask you if you'll still work on https://camoto.shikadi.net/ ? More specifically for Dave 1. And perhaps, since you don't oppose the usage of AI, maybe it can help you speed developing a better support of it and faster?
