The list seems so short. So few games have been released freeware in 30 years. *sigh*

Yeah, you'd think that at least things like Lemmings or King's Quest could be released. :confused

Lemmings is kind of on par with Mario as being one of the oldest, classic games during the late 80's era so I doubt there would ever be a free (un-pirated) version of it.

What's king's quest? I'm guessing it's not king's field. (which is pretty overlooked compared to ID's shooters coming out in the same era IMO)

Isn't Lemmings from 1991?

And: YOU DON'T KNOW King's Quest? So you don't know about Larry, Police Quest or Space Quest either?

Yeah, it's pretty well-known... an 80's adventure game. A pioneer of the genre, descended from stuff like Zork. Ridiculously frustrating.

You may as well just bite my ear off :bloody I tried zork and apogee's first text adventure game (forget what it's called). I got literally stuck in zork where moving in any direction didn't take me anywhere :dead

PS: Why is this in the theatre instead of the classics?

King's Quest is certainly different from Zork (especially considering the graphics), but still on a similar level of frustration.
I don't know why it's in Theater, either.

The later Kings Quests were practically EPIC. Seven was alright but I didn't like the 4 fingers animation style.

Kings Quest is a must have for ALL abandonware sites. No site is complete without copies of the Kings Quest games.:p

Well, they're available on Steam now for a decent price. Check it out. It doesn't seem to include Mask of Eternity though (not a huge loss).

Dark Ages looks interesting... Almost Jill of the Jungle-like.

EDIT: oh for crying out loud, phpbb can't even handle parentheses in URLs? Sigh.
Wow look at me I'm lurking

The player controls the prince and heir to the land’s greatest kingdom (referred to as the Great Kingdom). When the prince was a child, Garth, a power hungry wizard of immense power and greed, killed his father and took the throne. Rather than kill the prince he sent him to be raised by peasants, but even Garth’s evil magic could not foresee his mistake, since the very peasant he delivered him to was once the Kingdom’s greatest hero, and as the prince grew he was taught the ways of a master fighter. One of the things he learned well was how to use magic as a weapon.
Stupid villains, the AVGN's #1 worst movie cliche (or in this case a video game) :p
