Smash Bros. Clone: DOS Heroes!

This is my idea for a smash bros. game in PC mascots format instead of console mascots. Not that anybody would actually do it, but wouldn't it be cool to have Keen and Cosmo and Duke and Doomguy fighting in dangerous dave's haunted mansion? Despite the namesake, not all fighters are from DOS games. In fact, some are even mac exclusive.

Great idea, how about expanding it further? It would be neat to have Gordon with a gravity gun, Guybrush with some insults, maybe even the Avatar with... virtuous... living. Not sure how that would work.

Well if somebody was going to make this, some decisions would have to be made. 2D or 3D? Which characters to use? What weapons would they have? Which arena(s) for each character?

You know what would be awesome?

Take all the sprite based computer game characters, and put them in a game where they lead armies of minions from their various games pitted against other players!

You would have Doom Marine fighting Duke Nukem and all of a sudden the Chex Warrior comes out leading a swarm of flemoids and they start ripping apart Pig Cops, Revanants, slimes, imps, demons and octabrains.

Then the Strife Guy comes out of NOWHERE and brings an entity into the fray and electrocutes the CRAP out of everyone!

Oh wait... already been done.

No seriously. This is a great idea but it would be a LOT of work to get even a beta working.

Yeah... I'm not sure whether the graphics or the coding would be harder. You'd want multiple special abilities for everybody, arena interactivity, polished menus, one-player (necessitating enemy AI), two-player, maybe even... dare I say it... multiplayer? And you'd have to test it for months, making sure that everybody is balanced versus each other.

For that we need some project leaders. Since VikingBoyBilly came up with it, he should probably be the top guy.

If we were going to do that, then we would need to have other monsters from the other games for fairness's sake, and that would be tons of work. Sticking to the titular heroes is the best way to go, I think.
