Which Viking Lander?

According to Keen 1's story the Viking Lander landed right on top of the Garg ruler.
If I check on this map or on Wikipedia, there have in fact been two of those devices, both launched in 1975.
So my obvious question is, which is referred to in the story?

Of course if it was the first one, they may not have allowed the second one to land safely. If the second one landed on top of the king, it would make sense that they'd steal Keen's spaceship parts, as his ship would be the next thing to land since the incident when they'd still be looking for revenge.

Yet by then, it's Mortimer's influence that results in the parts being stolen. Though it wouldn't surprise me if he used the previous incident as propaganda to get the native Martians on his side.

The point still stands--the second lander probably would've been dismantled if it was the first that had killed the king.

Didn't the Vorticons steal the parts, not the martians?

Indeed, it was the outpost Vorticons that took the parts.

Martians are harmless!

However, the question is, or well, another is, are they being controlled by Mortimer, just as well?
