--------------------------Original Post:-------------

Rules:

1 - Must be a Vorticon mod
2 - Must be completed before the 29th.
3 - Must contain all original content, aside from the Keen sprites, which you can either choose to keep or replace.
4 - Game must be beatable, and preferably on the easy side.
5 - If you are reading this, you are officially obligated to partake in this competition, whether or not you've ever made a mod in your life.
6 - Game must be complete with new title screen and at least 1 level.

Crappy submissions are welcome. Just keep it silly and fun, and work as fast as you possibly can! :p

Think of this as "modding improv", and treat it as such. No second guessing yourself.

Competition ends on the 29th. All submissions will be uploaded to a web page, and then reviewed and voted by the community.

Voting will be held from August 29th through September 6th.

Send submissions to Paramultart at gee-mail dot com.

I hope you all contribute! :D

Thank you.

EDIT: For everyone's convenience, I uploaded this little modding kit with everything you need to make a Vorticon mod.

If you're giving us 12 days how will you ever know we did it in just one? :p

I'll do my best, though I don't like the one day rule very much.

Oh trust me, I'll know. >:

Seriously though, I guess I'm just going by trust.
I don't know why anyone would want to cheat. The fun part about this competition is to "see what you can do in a day", so you guys can explore your creativity without really having to think about it.
By cheating, you're only really cheating yourselves. 8)

Damn that fifth rule... :dead2 Tell you what, I'll try it -- but not today. But it ain't gonna be pretty. :dead Why I don't like this kind of thing is that it's not nice to see the amount of mods increasing with works that are either crappy or too incomplete, since usually making one takes a lot time.

I suppose people with busy work schedules can split the days, but ultimately, production should not exceed 24 hours of total work, so keep track.

I have already started work on mine, so you can expect it later tonight, or sometime before tomorrow morning. :)

do recolored sprites count as 'original content'? (I hate that rule combined with the 24 hour rule)

Well I guess this means I'm in as long as I can carve out some time for it.

Well I'm treating it more as a demo/proof-of-concept, like the ones for Andy's old Keen 4 contest, than anything else right now. But really, yeah... I don't really find it possible to churn out a quality mod (or mini-mod for that matter) in 24 hours - perhaps the contest could be expanded to allow any amount of work between now and the deadline? [right here is where this could benefit from :begging but I refuse to use that abomination]

Okay you whiny little bitches. Since 1 day isn't enough time for some of you, deadline is the 28th, so you have 12 days. >:

However, since I am awesome, I will prove that it's possible to make a quality mod in one day, and I WILL be releasing my game tonight.

You just took all the fun out of it!

Now I'll just procrastinate until I end up not doing it. :P

Thus you will eventually be hunted down like a game and sentenced to death via ligature strangulation by angry mobs with lampoil, rope and bombs :celtic
