well that may be true. But after I suffered through the bitter disappointment of wolf3D with no reward I didn't feel like giving blake stone a chance after half of the first level.IMA3HDDMNKY wrote:Really? JAKE Stone was the main character of Solar Winds, a game MUCH much better than BLAKE Stone. (And totally deserves a sequel because it was THAT good.)
Also, Serious Sam's real name is Sam "Serious" Stone. (He got the nickname "Serious" because he was wounded countless times but never died while fighting aliens to protect Earth.)
It's just a coincidence, seeing as how all hardcore people are named "Stone" (sometimes to try) to make them badass. Shoot, even people who are badass get the nickname "Stone" because they ARE badass. (Stonewall Jackson?)
Someone on Deviant Art described Wolfenstein 3D as a "Bland and boring experience." I would have to agree. While fun when I was a little kid, and no other FPS were made like it, I still never enjoyed it too well because it was repetitive and I got lost WAY too easily. (And I have a good sense of direction, too.)

I have to disagree with you there. I've played a lot of FPSs and Wolfenstein 3-D is very good if not one of the best. Obviously, it's not up to Quake's standards and its graphics are as dated as DX7 music, but game-play-wise it's still Brilliant! Modern FPSs are very repetitive and simply copy each other, but Wolfenstein 3-D is fairly unique still. Huey Lewis once said that "Time has a way of being very unkind to old records". This too can be applied for games and is even more true. However some classics stand the test of time and are fantastic even today, like Pong, Pacman, Space invaders, Donkey Kong, Chuckie Egg, SMB, Super Mariokart 64, James Bond Goldeneye, Keen, Quake 1, Quake 3, Duke Nukem (all episodes) and Portal. Wolfenstein 3-D is one of these classics and will be popular pretty much forever!
