Idea: Commander Keen action figure custom
I've been kicking around the thought of making a custom Commander Keen action figure, but finding a good base figure to customize was a major problem.
I THINK I may have found a good one: a super-poseable Frodo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings toyline. I'd have to do some major sanding to eliminate the wrinkled look on the shirt sleeves, as well as the collar and buttons on the shirt, but with some sculpting and repainting, I could easily turn Frodo into Keen.
Any other ideas on custom Keen figures?

What's the point of growing up if you can't be a little childish sometimes?

It's hard to think of any short childlike action figures that also have good mobility. Closest I could find was Shaggy from scooby doo, but the arms might be too long.

The Frodo figure in question:
Again, with sculpey and paint (and sanding), I could PROBABLY get it to look like Keen; the reason I chose this as a base is because it's close to DC Universe Classics and Marvel Legends in scale (i.e., it looks child-sized standing next to DCUC/ML figures).

I could even do multiple versions of Keen if I got more than one Frodo:
"Goodbye Galaxy" Keen w/Neural Stunner
Scuba-Gear Keen w/harpoon (yes, it will be waterproofed)
"Isis II" Keen w/Zeffer 9000, Pulser, Solarizer, Blowgun and Plutezarp
"Keen Dreams" Keen (complete with fuzzy slippers)

blimey i haven't been on here in ages just gsaw this and thot i'd comment that i have in fact been working on my own keen toy. not sure why to be honest. but it's using an anakin skywalker figure from star wars episode 1. it's got everything except the pogo stick which as you can guess is real hard to find
time's wasting and evil doesn't thwart itself

A custom Keen figure would be pretty awesome...but it sounds time consuming. I don't know of many figures that could be Keenified; Frodo is probably the most Keen-like and easiest figure for this. Sure, a non-Keen action figure can be modified into a Keen figure, but I think there should be official Keen figures as well. There are official Duke Nukem action figures, so why not official Keen action figures? But anyway, at least modification is kind of a solution to the "no Keen action figures". XD Excellent idea on the figures.

I think I may end up not using Frodo for the Keen custom, 'cause I've found an even better base:

Now if I could just find a good figure with a football helmet that'll fit him....
