trees are still looking a little bit Keen6ish but it's all good!
They're from Zoltan, I'm quite fond of them and shan't abandon them until someone draws me better.
I have a critique about the pixel art, though: I think you should try using less solid black, both in outlines and in shading
This is admittedly a weakness of mine. I like me a good solid black outline, don't ask me why. Maybe it's my style, but I'll have to see if I can do as you say and still actually draw.
Too much black in the pixel art makes a game look more "gritty", and a Valentine's-themed game in particular seems like it should have a softer more pastel-like palette.
Gritty valentines eh? Keen could do battle against alien girls out to steal his heart. (No, literally steal his heart.)
Something I love is the large sheet of clouds, which would've taken a while, I was thinking of the same sort of clouds for SS, but tile conservation won me over.
I have found that to beat the limit I can use fore and background combinations to turn a smaller number of tiles into a large set of possibilities. My grounds especially you'll notice this in. (Check out Zoltan for a basic example.)
I also like the 'Crash Bandicoot style death'.
Now if only there were a way to add multiple death possibilities to Keen...
It looks like it GUSHES BLOOD.
It is not! It's... splashing raspberry cordial! I'm guessing this may need tweaking.
Is this the music that will be in the game?
Only in that level, thanks to having two composers I have a unique song for almost every level (And one for the menu... and one for the help screens...) If you can find me a midi version of some classic songs you like I may be able to sneak them in to say, Lindsey's windows.
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.
