Then again, it would be 3 times as cool to see Keen 6 re-released, as that's been my favourite Keen episode since childhood. :p
That's the one that needs to be re-released! As for Keen Dreams, I think this is unnecessary. Softdisk sold the game on their site for quite some time. I got the game as part of their Kids Game Pack which also included Rescue Rover and a few other games back in 2006.

There has been a shareware version of Keen Dreams, but as far as I can tell, the only thing the registered version has is a walkthrough of the game, but otherwise, the game is essentially identical. So really, when you think about it, is this a game that needs a legal release if it has always been essentially distributed freely?

Allow me to be the first to say

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

It's not everything we wanted, but it's a good start.

EDIT: And major thanks to the crowdfunding effort on this! Looks like it worked out after all.

I was going to say we could get the Cosby Show back on TV like Doctor Who is today!

I was quite excited when I saw the keen dreams source being released showing up on my twitter feed. And hey, the upshot is that I'm now downloading the actual source code for Keen Dreams, so I can't complain there. I shall see if something fun can be done with it.

On this project's Greenlight page, when you open Discussions and then A few problems with the IndieGameStand build of the game there is a post by "HardDisk Productions", followed by the "[developer]" tag, followed by the "(Banned)" tag.
I can still see the user's profile page, and it doesn't say "banned" anywhere on that (?), but this still looks very shady to me.

EDIT:
I just noticed you can look up somebody's post history, and apparently HardDisk Productions posted just 1 hour ago, so the account was not really banned...?
I'm confused, but I hope this ends up being legit, because it would be great to have Keen Dreams on Steam, and GOG.com, and just in general.

It is legit, there was an error and that's been fixed.

I was hoping it was a misunderstanding or technical error or something.
The "banned" tag has since been removed. :)
I hope you understand it's nothing personal, rather the exact opposite: I don't know you at all, and I am skeptic by nature.
I much prefer you being a nice guy that's doing this cool thing over you being a grifter trying to scam people out of their money.
I did upvote this project as soon as I found it, and I hope it'll be greenlit soon.

LGR reviewed a beta: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i-CZENpIuU

I didn't knew it advanced so much. I mean adding the abilities to switch between CGA/EGA, widescreen, window etc.

But yeah. I would agree about the price.

The "beta" is actually what is on sale.

Selling a beta is strange (maybe an idea copied from the space sims) but, except for the windowed mode crashes apparently experienced, this looks neatly done. I'm looking forward to seeing what's offered in the future. Hopefully something that makes the price tag less notable.

It looks unexpectedly great. Features like controller support are really useful in my opinion. A short game like Dreams would not really benefit from cloud save tough. I would be more interested in restoring some of the removed graphics and music, if (legally) possible.
Also, the price would be to much for the bare bones game, but not for an extended source port.
Aaaah, not the bees!
