Windows Version with OGG-Support

There it is! I finally managed to compile against the ogg vorbis libraries.

Here is the Windows binary. Check it out and have fun!

NOTE: This is not an update, only the support of ogg-files for windows. Linux users already have this support.

The sounds work fine now, but I think it may be better to use the original sounds rather than ones from Keens 4/5/6.

Those sounds are optional. If you delete the ogg files from "/data/hqp", then you have original sounds again.

I don't like those new sounds either, so I would want to make new ones. Option for choosing between ogg and original sounds will also be implemented.

The physics need work. I'm not certain what all of the specific issues with them are, but I know for a fact that you can't pogo that high in the original.

The sounds are much better now. Did you also fix the yorp speed? They seem to move at their normal pace. I think the thing that most needs to be improved is the physics, specifically jumping.
Overall, excellent work. It's really coming along.

Yorp speed: No, I didn't change that. Sometimes they move fast, sometimes they don't, like it appears.

I'm writing a new structure which will be integrated into the code. It will have less bugs, run faster and provide new features. As this is a lot of work, I beg you to be pacient. The next version will take more time to be released.

You're talking about patient and you were releasing every two days or so... that was damn fast
Just take your time. By the way, that keen Y worked with clonekeen was sheer luck, I tried another mod where the tileinfo was changed, so there were some tiles blocking that shouldn't. Well, I guess that needs time, too.
I tried your 1.8 version in Windows xp and the sounds came out distorted. I tried lowering the wave volume with no positive effect. I tried the sounds themselves in winamp and they seem to be ok.
And episodes 2 and 3 don't seem to work anymore, choosing them just crashes the program.

What MODs would be good to test with? So I can fix this up.

You are talking about ogg-files. I tried them under Windows XP within the game, and they worked! THis is really strange, but maybe something in the program on your computer is changed different than to mine.

I will do more tests about that. Probably I find the problem, when I got through cleaning the source code.
And episodes 2 and 3 don't seem to work anymore, choosing them just crashes the program.
Did you test, if the game files are lowercase?

Can you send me "stdout.txt", so I can trace your errors?

It just crashes when I try to open clonekeen.exe. I use vista.

@KeenEmpire: I did not try this on Vista, but it should compatible. Are your data file names lower-case? Please try that. What data files did you use? Which version

@tulip: Sorry, but Episode 2 and 3 don't crash on my Windows XP System. Are your file names in lower-case format? Please rename the files if it is the case and try it again. I will fix this issue soon. Maybe Mono sound works better for you. At time, Stereo sound with OGG Support consumes a lot of resources.

I tried changing the dat and the ogg files to lower case (did them one at a time and simultaneously, just in case), and still got the same problem. I'm using the high quality ogg files, and the default dat files.

I might be missing something obvious.

as for mods I tried it with my own mod Onward silcar (mainly because I wanted to see my graphics in hi-res), but I guess Kidnapped Keen is good to go with because it changes quite a lot.

Wait a second. In Keen 2 and 3 the sound effects are inside the exe, thus the reason the game can't find the file. Have you actually tried running those episodes without your OGG sounds installed?
