I want to donate a bit of money to you

Post by SupFanat »

I feel strong desire to thank the creators of mods Terror of Outer Space and The Eight Accumulators with a bit of money. I feel it deserves at least $40 from me.

Could you please consider tnis suggestion? Thank you very much!

Thankyou very much SupFanat, I feel very complimented and praised! :o
Not sure about how donations would go down in regards to the legal status of mods. I know there has been a fair bit of discussion on this topic in the past. It's also worth noting that Keen 4 (which both mods are derived from) was always shareware and was never meant to be profited from. I appreciate the gesture very much so though!

Cheers for the heads up too Keening_Product!

You get donations only for your modifications. The original Keen 4 doesn't get anything.

You're making it more complicated than it is. Basically a bunch of friends are sending money as a gift to their friends. No more explanations needed.

The issue is now this has been discussed on the internet it will never disappear, so ZeniMax could issue a cease and desist to someone here if such a transaction took place. We don't really want the IP owners coming down on modding and the modders.

Then again, maybe we could try this as at TPP test case :disguised

I've always been against donations because of the potential harm to the modding scene, but I think wiivn has exactly the right idea on how to handle it, something I hadn't considered before. As Keening_Product points out with the discussion here, it's probably a good idea to keep such transactions discreet, and I hope we don't see folks soliciting for donations. If donations do become a thing, don't forget to consider the individuals behind the scenes who pour their time into making the tools and patches for mods!

So maybe after all of this time... my dream will actually come true when I can truly say...

"I liked Keen mods before they went commercial..."

I liked Mario levelpacks before they went commercial.

Actually, no I didn't; and I still don't care about them.

Is my Jetpack level pack worthy of your donation?
