That reminds me, is it wrong I've always pronounced the "id" in "id software" as "aye-dee", as in "I-D"? I know the official pronunciation and etymology, but my mind is already hardwired to accept only one kind of "id" :dopekeen

I don't think it's wrong. I was surprised when I heard it for the first time back in the Quake 2 days as many other people do... But nowdays I don't really care because id sucks big time anyway.

I've always pronounced it id as in kid. It does bother me a little bit when people pronounce it incorrectly.

I've always pronounced it id as in kid. It does bother me a little bit when people pronounce it incorrectly, even though it doesn't really matter. It's like that gif and jif debate.

*insert table flip* NO! IT'S NOT JIFF! I DON'T CARE IF IT WAS SUPPOSED TO... *ahem*
I always pronounced ID eye-dee too, which is odd because I grew up reading the wizard of id and pronounced that properly...

I'm also a former eye-dee-er, but unlike GIF/JIFF where the English language is killing the jiff argument, there's no reason id shouldn't be said as a single syllable word other than our familiarity with the ID acronym.

The id software logo is misleading. It's either both upper case or both lower case, Easy to take them as initials. That and ID cards are way more common than understanding and usage of Sigmund Freud's ideas.

They've never had to trim a binary search tree. :x

Hi

Post by proYorp »

You hear in your mind:
Greetings, Keeners! I come in peace!

I've been lurking for quite a few months now, and I've finally gotten around to joining.
I have to say, this is a very cool community. There are such fascinating discussions with diverse opinions, especially with having members from all over the globe. Just reading PCKF is very educational.
Equally amazing is that after 20 years of Keening, there are still things to discover and discuss about the best game series in existance.
There's such a variety of cool fan creations, some of them very professional.
In short, "This is neat!" ;)

I hope to contribute to the awesomeness where I can. I do have a little experience with pixelart.
Stay keen!

Awesome! It's nice to meet you! The keen community is small, so we all know each other and there isn't that much stupid garg. We're all pretty chill.

I hope you keep lurking around and having a good time with us! :D
And hopefully the depressing reality that there will never be a new keen game doesn't discourage or depress you.
