Happy New Year to all of you! I thought 2018 was a nice year, and I'm hoping 2019 will be great as well! Hopefully I can get my mod out at some point this year.

Re: Happy New Year 2019!
I doubt it'll be a good year for me. I heard someone on television being asked if 2018 had been a good year for her, and she answered "No, only uneven years are good for me." That inspired me to reflect on what type of years are good for me. I'm thinking that, with luck, a prime number will be a good year for me. The next one is 2027. It does not bode well for me.

Re: Happy New Year 2019!
How many of you and/or the cultures from which you come celebrate something on the 6th of January? It is observed across the world in different ways but I gather in Irish culture it may be taken particular note of traditionally. Its usual name in Ireland is either Little Christmas, or else "Nollaig na mBan", which means "women's christmas" and signifies the women of the household finally getting a chance to have a bit of a feast after their arduous work in preparing house and table for the real Christmas. I would hope that today's society is sufficiently egalitarian that all members of the household get to enjoy an approximately similar break during the Christmas. For sure, Nollaig na mBan no longer typically is celebrated as a feast day in Ireland but merely as the deflating day when society expects you to take down your Christmas decorations once and for all. Merry 6th of January to one and all!
Re: Happy New Year 2019!
If the Christian Epiphany counts, I suppose I celebrated that today (insofar as one going to church on Sunday as one usually does counts), but I can't say I choose to do that every year, so...maybe not?
I must say I love hearing about Irish traditions!

Here in Argentina they celebrate something called "Reyes magos" in 6th January, they're supposed to be the three kings that bring gift to Jesus.
so you left you shoes in some place of the house and then they bring gifts to the children...

In the Netherlands, both the first and the second day of Christmas are national Holidays, but beside New Year's Eve, no others are.
