I've just finished this Jill of the Jungle level pack.
Instructions:
Make a directory with a copy of Jill 1 in it. Then unzip JotJR.zip into it and allow it to overwrite map.jn1. The other levels use different filenames from the original game's levels so they don't have to be overwritten. I have also used some music from Jill 2 and 3 so I've included the .ddt files for those tracks as well.
Note about demons: I designed and playstested these levels on a version of Jill 1 where the demons die in one hit from the throwing star. Just before reIeease I've also played through them on a version where they take multiple hits and it's somewhat more frustrating but still I think playable. If they're too annoying I could make some edits to remove some of the demons and release an updated version, or maybe have one version for one-hit-demon game versions and another for multiple-hit-demon versions.
Update: demons' health was reduced so that they should die in one hit on all versions now.
Another update: there was a demon I forgot to change the health on. Now it should be fixed.
Update 3: updated to hopefully fix issues pointed out by Roobar. Thanks for finding those.
Update 4: and one more fix, the elevator in the last level.

There is a way to make sure the demons can always be killed with a single shot, regardless of the game version. All you need to do is to edit the demon object(s) and set the "statecount" value to 5 for each demon in the level files.
(At least that's how it should work when using my jMod level editor.)

Hail to the K1n9, baby!

Ah yeah, I'll do that and upload a new version.K1n9_Duk3 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 22:21 There is a way to make sure the demons can always be killed with a single shot, regardless of the game version. Well, cool level pack! I was wondering whether you'll make it or not. The neatest thing for me was in the level where you control both Jill and the bird.
And I wanted to point two flaws:
You can get stuck by doing this, if yo don't have additional jumping.
If you die and restart within this checkpoint, you'll end up stuck there.
That checkpoint doesn't save your progress and you have to return to grab an additional jump every time you die and restart from it.

Re: Jill of the Jungle Returns
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yeah I made a bit of use of a couple of quirks of how the game works like being able to place multiple player-controlled sprites and being able to make a door that can be opened with a key but doesn't look like a door.
As for those issues, I'll take a look and see if I can fix them. Looks like the first one is just that the elevator should be set to fall down when the player walks off of it rather than stay where it was...
Edit: Okay, solving the second problem should just be a matter of removing the barrier that appears.

Re: Jill of the Jungle Returns
Okay, I have uploaded a new version that should hopefully solve those issues.
Edit: damn, need to fix the elevator in the last level so it'll fall down when moving off of it. Okay, done, that should hopefully be all those issues resolved now.

This took about 10 mins to beat. Still cool though...
