Well, the actual console look there is NES, so...some inconsistency :)

Wow. I tried the mod for a little while now and it's awesome! I've started the third episode and you've done spectacular things. I don't know how you've achieved this. Is it a combination of the old engine with a true 3D engine? Anyhow it's impressive.

The keen levels are great as well! Really diverse and a good sense of huge environment. You could even ride the red boulder! Also too hard as I couldn't beat any of them yet. And there's not enough ammo. But that's the closest to what a 3D Keen could've been/should've been if Id Software took the initiative and made one. :)

This is GZDoom engine, the most popular Doom port for modding and in general.
It is Doom port, but adds - as you can see - alot of additional capabilities (portals, 3D floors, various effects, 3D models, skyboxes, displacement textures etc etc), most if not all of which BoA tried to use to large extent.
You could even ride the red boulder!
Afadoomer's code magic is great there, with attention to details and proper Keen recreation/interpretation in 3D

Yeah, he made it look like an easy level. Even he was left with 0 ammo at the end though.

... I think I might need a hint as to where to find one of those cartridges ...

BTW, I'm a few hours in and boy! I'm blown away! this is way more than a mod. i wish some of those tripple A titles would be as precise as boa is. the level of detail behind every corner, the setting, the atmosphere, the story telling, the world building, the tenseness, the tone, the very well researched historical snippets, and all the things I forgot to mention... top-notch! I agree with Romero. this mod is incredible

If you will read recent thread posts - you'll see we already posted (on Sunday) a code to get directly to those maps.
We did it just for this forum :)

yeah I know...
but I'm looking for a clue for the regular path to unlock the 3D Keeniverse. I'd like to discover where you've hidden those cartridges... so is there a certain area, a location where I should search the place with care?

I wasn't the one to place them, so don't know where to find them (beside third one in Chapter 3 because of recent youtube "all secrets" play (there is a guy doing "all secrets" playthroughs).
I assume it's one cartridge per Chapter.

Wow, you guys got John Romero to advertise for you? As a "surprise?" Does that mean he agreed to do this beforehand? :D

I think he was talking about it before, when the previous episodes were released as well. and why not, if it's an awesome mod.
