attempts at the final level in Keen 9
Lets see you try to beat it.
Here's my best shot at it.

Here's my best run in hard mode. As the video summary mentions, this was before the official release (video was recorded in december or late november) so there are some small differences from the released version.

Well I'm certainly impressed.

Nice run on this. I wish Mortimer's shots could be destroyed by your own though.
Cereal Board!

When it comes to Mortimer's shots, then yes they may seem to be equal in strength and speed to Keen's shots. I do agree with Ceilick that it'd be way easier if Keen could destroy Mortimer's shots. At least, especially for the ones encountering the level for the very first time, this level is clearly a good challenge, if not great.
Back to the videos, these were both nice! Scarlet, I liked how you got above Mortimer in the very beginning. I haven't thought about this so much (if at all)... And regarding Ceilick's video, yes I agree, it was *that* close.
Oh well, it's true that this made me want to try out the same thing...
After a few trials, I've got this run:

I recall using the original release from February 2nd (and so do the times and dates of the downloaded Keen 9 archive tell). I understand that a few bugs have been fixed since then, but it doesn't change the gameplay much if at all, I guess.

You did pull off some nice dodging in that level. There was once or twice I thought you were done and you just happened to duck just at the right time.Scarlet wrote:Lets see you try to beat it.

I do not have a video to prove it, but I got as far as you did without saving with two notable differences:Ceilick wrote:Here's my best run in hard mode. 1) I was on easy, not hard.
2) I dodged the shot that killed you. I flipped the switch to open the bridge at the exact same time Mortimer shot at me. I dodged the shot, but the result was falling into the chasm below and dying. You cannot believe how close I was to throwing my laptap across the room!!!
That is the one and only time I got that far without in-level saving. Most of the time I do not get anywhere close to the end.
Excellent run...NY00123 wrote:When it comes to Mortimer's shots, then yes they may seem to be equal in strength and speed to Keen's shots.
