Well,

VikingBoyBilly I think too, but if he failed to destroy our galaxy, he should have been trying to destroy other galaxies first, just to try it and to gain experience by doing it. But although destroying the multiverse looks like the next logical step for Mort, I think this would be far beyond his abilities no matter his IQ. Destroying only one parallel universe seems legit enough and Fleexy is right, but I wonder, how much longer would it take for Mortimer to realize that he can't destroy anything? I mean we can make another 10 unofficial official mod, where Mortimer is trying to destroy somethng and failed, but maybe we should look for some different kind of villain.

In terms of graphics quality and level design, he made Xmas 2010, which was quite good, so lets hope this one would be at least as good.

Levellass one bet for... ehrm, how does szemi describe his abandon mods? "totally scrapped"? :) Nah, he already made almost his entire mod. I think he'll released it sooner or later.

@wiivn: "totally scrapped mods" = I don't care about those mods, I don't work on or I don't continue them anymore.

This is a good point. Additionally, it should be noted that each series has more than a progression in what Mortimer is destroying. Invasion of the Vorticons is where we discover Mortimer as a villain, however, he is the villain from a distance, the Vorticons being the main threat. In Goodbye Galaxy, Mortimer is only passively present; the main villain/s are the Shikadi, but this series does establish him as THE villain Keen must ultimately contend with. In my version of The Universe is Toast, Mortimer is upfront the villain, interacting with Keen from the start, culminating in fighting him face to face.

Any "Keen 10" that uses Mortimer and wants to stand above other mods must 'step up' the Keen vs Mortimer conflict. It's not, or nearly not, about what is the next biggest thing to destroy. This leads back to what wiivn more or less said; post u/TUIT Mortimer needs evaluation as a villain.

Mortimer needs to step it up?

ooh yeah, my inner machinations are bubbling evilly :mort

Before becoming a bigger threat to everything external to keen, he should come in closer for more personal malice. The enslavement of Keen's parents to the Grand Intellect's new order, witnessing the brutal death of his brother by Mort's hands, and unspeakable tortures to Becky and Princess Lindsay will leave keen spiralling into a dark depression, eventually driving him to a murdurous rage out for Mort's blood :mortlol

We have two traditional ways of building on the existing series. But first, a third.

The third way is to have a recurring villain again and again in pretty much the same role as ever, game after game. See also: Bowser Dr Eggman. This isn't necessarily bad, but it leads to a lot of 'Meet the new game, same as the old game'-ness.

The first method is to up the *scale* of the stakes and conflict. In this we go from being trapped on Mars (1) to destruction of earth (2,3) to the galaxy (4,5) a lull (Allowed as Keen 6 is more a side episode.) then to the universe (7,8,9)

In this vein the next step may indeed by the multiverse, or just more than one universe, or say the timeline. Eventually you end up going as far as you can go, nothing bigger, and end up in scenario 3 (Aaah, Mort's trying to destroy the everythingverse AGAIN...)

The second method is to up the *personal relevance* of the stakes; this happened when Mortimer was revealed, turning a conflict based on saving things Keen loved to a personal conflict with a specific archenemy, Mortimer. The ext step in this manner would be again to attack Keen more closely, his parents, his friends, even Mortimer taking over his town and brainwashing everyone against him would be bigger. (This idea is taken, no touchy!)

Well jeez, in the multiverse it's already been released! Keep up with the multi-times!

I must say that the recent release of infinite versions of TUIT was both interesting and disappointing; however the infinite subset of them that were Duke Nukum Forever clones were frankly sub-par.

I just got back from the parallel universe where id Software's 1992 TUIT series is acclaimed as the greatest set of computer games ever made.

It was terrible. Don't get me wrong, TUIT was amazing...hell, it was mind-blowing. I was in tears...it was every last thing I had ever dreamed it would be a thousand times over. But what 20 years has done to poor Keen! Game after game, growing ever more commercialized, more generic, a far cry from everything that allowed id to leave Nintendo in the dust. Our dear modding community? Flooded under generations of children grasping for every new Keening experience that id spits out. There is nothing pure left in the old Keens, except perhaps as a bittersweet nostalgia at what our fine series once was. We have all moved on to more unspoiled landscapes, such as that quirky, obscure series of games they call Halo.

By the way, in this universe Paramultart is a CoD fan and Scarlet is a proud Texan patriot. I don't imagine I'll be going back.

I just checked it out. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was never made. And because the series ended at Sonic 2, Sonic 2006 doesn't exist either. There's this fansite called the Public Sonic the Hedgehog Forum where a modder named Cocounuts made an unofficial Sonic 3 and if you go on youtube and deviantart there's atrocious recolors of commander keen with overpowered deus ex machina abilities all over. And Keen fetish porn... :sick

WARNING!

Unfortunately, I have to stop working on Keen 10 for a while as I'm busy with Martinez McMeyer 3.5 and 4, moreover I'm still waiting for new graphics for Keen 10 as well.

P.S. Don't worry, I didn't scrap/delete Keen 10!

I don't mean to make a useless post, but how exactly is that a warning? From whom are you needing graphics?

Since I announced Keen 10, I promised I'll finish/release it, but I cannot finish it right now, that's why I warn everybody that I stopped working on it for a while due to Martinez McMeyer 3.5 and 4.
And I'm needing graphics from Mobiethian, who has promised, but I still haven't received anything.

Don't mind the specifics of his word use. The important thing is that Keen 10 is now a lower priority than those two MM games, which I suppose could be good to know if you were eager to see Keen 10 released.
