Haha, that would be funny. Even if it'd make his house a bit strange. :confused

Heh, that's actually a neat idea, keen jr defending his house from a minor alien invasion. I had some idea awhile back for a 'retro style' keen in only black and white, this story sounds like it would fit that theme rather well.

a black and white keen prequel? kewl idea. i was thinking it could be set back on gnosticus iv, you remember when it said in the keen 4 story 'they owe him a favour,' in the prequel you could see what that is

I think Lava was refering to a pre-vorticons series type prequel. And anyway, the idea you're suggesting is the old keen community mod plotline.

Indeed. Actually, I'd forgotten about that aspect. One of these days we've gotta finish that thing...

The Commander Keen Community Mod was a planned project that never really got off the ground. (Or if it did, not more than a few inches.) It has its own forum over on K:M. http://www.keenmodding.org/viewforum.php?f=14 Reading threads in that forum make me sad. All those shattered dreams .....

speaking of a keen prequel, maybe a sort of keen epilogue game set in the future would be cool. young Billy could be an elderly William, and he could still be a prolific pogoist and galactic, or universal hero. point items could be smoking pipes, dentures (sp?), books (like in keen 1 I guess), and maybe coffee or arthritis meds. Well, it sounds like a bad idea now that I write it out. but i hope somebody will disagree with me.

The CKCM may be comatose, but the Patchwork mods were nice. One day, the CKCM will rise again!

the idea of ano older keen sounds interesting...but not too old, im thinking in his twenties or something, the idea of a 50 year old keen sounds just wrong

This reminds me of TMST's 'retired Keen' comic strip. It was very droll.

I think he would. It seems to me that it isn't youth and especially not ignorance that compels the lad to use a pogo-stick. You'd think someone with such a high IQ would have thought of something different than a pogo-stick, even at 8-yrs old. But honestly, those genius folks often do the most unexpected and bizarre seeming things for ideas that we just don't get. I'm sure he'd ride a pogo even in his twilight years. Kind of like Indiana Jones and the whip, ya know.
